It’s terrible and awareness should be raised.
Many of us have been talking about it for years but we have been ignored because it doesn’t fit the Western educational curriculum which focuses on demoralization of Western populations in order to keep them subjugated. This has been going on in Africa forever and it’s a stain on us that we’re only okay to talk about it now.
When I see the BBC and CNN start to blast stories about a problem that has existed in north and sub-saharan Africa for thousands of years uninterrupted I think “what a great humanitarian pretext for boots on the ground!”
Is that cynical? Probably, but if you know the history of the region and the history of the berbers and the sub-saharan slave trade this is old news being made new again.
Among the smartest and longest lived animals we can ever hope to interact with and it was willing to learn this stupid trick to amuse its human friend.
